Christmas Project

Each year at church we put together a small gift for the widows and the shut-ins. This year I was in charge. I have a very cute cooler that looks like a beach bag. I tried to find something like that to use this year. I found the bargain of the year. Reef bags! They came in 3 colors. Brown, tan, and hot pink. The price said $3.99 but when I got to the check-out line they were only $3.19. I made bows for them and the ladies at church collected items to go in them.
I loved what we put in them. We had: Winter paper plates & napkins, candy dish, hard candy, gum, coffee mug and small coffee, puzzle book, magnetic notepad, pen, chapstick, and 2 year planner. Unfortunately we had 3 new widows this year. A women and her daughter-in-law, and my mother-in-law. Although these women are not "in-need", it is nice that we can give them a token of our love!

Baby Shower

My good friend is having a baby next week (she hopes). We are having a shower for them tomorrow. I made 2 blankets from flannel and crocheted an edge around them both. I have had these done for over 2 weeks! I put them in a gift bag that I customized to look like a t-shirt. I got that idea from SCS. They don't know if it's a boy or girl but I went with boy. I had a dream the other day that I had forgotten to take the present to the shower and when I got there, everyone else had flannel blankets with edging on them! Go figure.

Nieces Christmas Ornaments

I was feeling froggy so I made some ornaments to send to my nieces at college. These are the backs of the ones for Cupcake. I couldn't stand it. I had to show them off. This was an original idea. Surprise, surprise! I bought a puzzle at the Dollar Tree and embellished them with junk we have at the house. Can't wait to get them sent out next week.

Baby Scrapbook

Hey, I've created a scrapbook for a new mom-to-be. The baby is due on Sat. but they went today! I have been made fun of because my scrapbook pages usually turn out to be green. I can't seem to help that. I was fortunate on this book, the nursery colors are green and purple! Yeah me! Hopefully the mom will put some pictures in this book. We shall see.
I used some stick-on gems on the first page. I love them but they were kind of a pain to put on. You have to hold your mouth just right. I used various stickers and an idea from CM on the next pages. The 3rd set of pages I used some...... GREEN..... buttons that a friend had given me. They are bulky so I used the same layout to keep the bulk down when the book is closed. Pretty simple on the next 2 layouts. I stamped 'Baby Girl' on some squares and stuck'm down. I used some ABC stickers on the next set. I love these stickers and they came from the $ Tree. We LOVE the lipstick, shoe, purse brads on the next pages. I don't know what I would do without my SU punches either. I embossed on the flowers and raised them up with pop-dots. If you look closely at the flowers the centers look like smiley faces. The purple border is kind of hard to see. I used a fiskers punch to make it look like lace. And last but not least, just a few swirl stickers and a bow. I kind-a like doing a book like this. You don't have to worry if the pictures match or not. I plan on taking this to her after the baby gets here. I will see if I can find a green pen to put in the bag so that she can journal! The album came from Michaels. I seem to have a dot thing going on right now!

Our other Child

We have a son too! He is the musical one. Also very creative but he is into the mechanical side. He is working on a tree house right now. Don't have a picture of him playing his horn but I just wanted to say a few words about him!
I have a few projects going on right now. Just finished a baby scrapbook for a Mom-to-be and a couple of baby blankets for another Mom-to-be-again. I'll post the photos later. Just had to brag on my children today!!!

More of My Daughter

I have created a monster!!! My dd loves to sew. Only problem is that she does NOT want to use a pattern. BUT..... she makes wonderful creations. She has "cupcakes" creative gene!
Here is a potholder that she made for my grandmother. Grandma uses her potholders to the point where they become, how should I say, burnt! We love her very much and we know the fate of the potholders but choose to make them anyway! We've tried the silicone ones but she prefers the pretty ones. (for as long as they last) Love you Grandma!!!

St. Jude Quilt

My daughter and a friend of hers take sewing lessons. They have just completed a St. Jude Quilt of Dreams quilt. These quilts are entered into a contest and then given to children at one of the St. Jude hospitals. The contest is open to anyone who wants to enter. The contest is thru Hancock Fabrics. This quilt also was considered to be a community service project for their Fireants 4-H Club. She did a great job and I am proud of her!!! The quilt was modified from a quilt in a magizine. (I think it was Quiltmaker but I'm not sure)

So "cupcake"......... what do you think?

My First Blog

My Niece talked me into setting up a blog. Not sure how much will show up on here but I'll give it a try.
This is a picture of my stamping/scraping "desk". I love this space. Believe me, it didn't look like this long. I love working here. My favorate part is the card catalog. I bought it at an auction and had no idea what to do with it but I HAD to have it. It now houses all of my stamp pads, pens, inks & cartridges, colored pencils and adhesives. Each drawer is labeled with what is in it. I love being able to find the right color pad because it has a specific home.

The second picture is of my "twirly thingie". It is a paperback book rack that I rescued from the scrap pile at one of my local libraries. (I seem to have a library theme going on in my room) I painted it white and put ALL of my stamp sets on it. I now have them alphabetized and arranged by size. LOVE IT!
